Shibu Uchiwa Paper Fan

Handcrafted in the southern region of Japan near Kumamoto, these fans have been produced the 1600's. Each fan is handmade using traditional skills and tools. The Japanese Washi Paper is coated with persimmon tannin which makes it durable and strong but also acts as a natural insect repellant. Ribbed for strength and affixed to a bamboo handle, this fan will deepen in colour with age and is display worthy year-round.
